Silenced

Patrícia Rotterová’s first directorial work, created under academic supervision at Divadlo Lab, and also the beginning of her long-term creative collaboration with Katarína Jungová, who has stood beside her on almost every production since. This is a devised, original production - a text written directly for the stage - and for Silenced Jungová is credited as its co-author, signing off on the concept, dramaturgy and choreography as well. It deals with the lives of women in Afghanistan under Taliban rule. Staged in April 2022 as a charity project for an organisation supporting Afghan women.

Festival appearances

In June 2022 the production was also presented at two festivals:

Dotyky a spojenia (Martin, 20-25 June 2022) - a curated, non-competitive festival of professional theatre that surveys the most interesting Slovak productions of the past season each year.

Zlomvaz (Prague, 8-11 June 2022) - an international student theatre festival run by DAMU’s Department of Production, showcasing work from theatre schools across Central Europe.

In her own words

“We started working with a concept where there’s a television on stage, showing different situations from Afghanistan. And we found a parallel among Slovaks, showing an ordinary person just watching it all.”
